Prepping for a Revision
July 14, 2009 · Posted in Revision rhinoplasty
Hi all,
I’m scheduled to get my revision rhino with Dr. Schoenfeld in DC next week and I’m starting to get really freaked out about the whole thing. How did you prepare yourself — mentally, physically, space-wise, for your revision?
Thanks!

I haven’t actually scheduled my revision, but I have a sense of what you might be feeling. I think once I actually set a date in stone, I’ll be overcome with anxiety. I think it’s the worrying of whether the results will come out okay–most of which is out of your hands and out of your control. I think you just need to tell yourself that you’ve made a well-thought out, well-researched decision and build a sense of confidence. That’s really all you can do. I think if you think positively, things have a way of working out. That’s for preparing mentally (which I think is the most difficult part!). As for preparing physically and resource-wise (stocking up on soft foods/non-salty foods, good books/magazines/videos), it really depends on if you will be traveling for your revision. Are you doing your post-op in a hotel or at home? Will you have somebody to help you through the first few days? This is important. Also, make sure you fill all the prescriptions you will need BEFORE your surgery.
totally go for it if your only fear is that you’ll turn out like michael jackson, lol. that doesn’t happen! he had WAY too many is the problem. yours definitely will NOT turn out that way. as for the trust thing, just research doctors and go to a few before you make your final decision. talk to them extensively and ask a lot of questions, so you’re both on the same page of what you want out of the surgery. you’ll know which doctor just feels right for you.
I actually had my rhino with dr. schoenfeld and he pinched my nose so I had it fixed in Beverly Hills. Hes ok, not a great doctor my any stretch of the imagination
