What do you say guys…

For those who have undergone or are looking to undergo their first rhinoplasty procedure

What do you say guys…

Postby devan » Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:10 pm

I have been saving for a nose job but I need a good Rhinoplasty Surgeon who can shape up my nose. I have heard enough horror stories about surgeries gone wrong where one ends up paying for a corrective surgery as well. I am scared…to say the least…I really won’t be able to afford a corrective surgery. A colleague has suggested Rhinoplasty Surgeon, Dr. Jennifer Levine but she was not a patient herself. I would like to hear from a person who has undergone similar surgery or at least been to this Rhinoplasty Surgeon. What do you say guys…should I go to her??? Though i have seen the before and after pics on her website at www.drjenniferlevine.com

I looked over her before and after gallery, and this is my opinion. I think, overall, her results are good. One thing I noticed is that most of those before and after shots only show the profile. You should be careful here, because in nasal surgery, it's the front view that is the hardest to get right. The surgeon who did my primary also had mostly profile shots in his before and after gallery online...suffice to say, he didn't get the front view right.

That said, the few frontal shots she has in her gallery look good. I like the fact that she seems conservative...that is, she tweaks a little--nothing that will make you look like a completely different person. My primary surgeon went overboard--I didn't even look like myself anymore. A revision surgeon I consulted with a year later looked at my before and afters and specifically said, "your surgeon did way too much."

You should also consider what YOUR goals are for the surgery. I don't know the specifics--what exactly are you trying to fix? I noticed she seems to be most comfortable (or has the most experience) with fixing bumps/nasal humps. That's not exactly the most difficult thing to do in rhinoplasty (but keep in mind that some docs even screw that up!). I didn't see photos of any particularly difficult cases (extremely crooked noses, short noses that need lengthening, etc).

If you have very minor cosmetic concerns, I'd say she's definitely worth a consult! I would also consult with a few other doctors just so you make a more informed decision. I had surgery with the first doctor I consulted with (BIG mistake).

Are you looking to have your surgery in the NYC area?
